Why Aero Is the Best Value Change on a 996
A front splitter and rear wing change the proportions of a 996 more than almost any other modification for the same money. The 996's relatively smooth standard bodywork responds well to a lip, a diffuser and a wing, and the whole package is reversible if you keep the original panels.
Front Splitters and Lips
A front lip or splitter is the cheapest way to give a 996 visual attitude. Flexible polyurethane lips take abuse from speed bumps and kerbs far better than rigid fibreglass or carbon, while a carbon splitter gives the sharpest motorsport look at a higher price. Both mount to the standard bumper using self-tapping fixings or factory mounting points.
Ducktail or Fixed Wing?
A ducktail keeps the classic 911 silhouette and suits narrow-body cars beautifully, while a fixed GT3-style wing is the more aggressive choice and pairs naturally with a wide body conversion. If you are chasing a GT3 look, match the wing to the bumper and side skirts so the car reads as a complete design.
Balancing Front and Rear Downforce
Adding rear downforce without touching the front pushes the balance towards understeer at speed. The old rule holds: a wing deserves a splitter. If you fit a large rear wing, add a front splitter at the same time, and keep the ride height sensible so the front lip has a chance to work properly.
Fitment, Fixings and Finish
Aftermarket aero almost always needs some adjustment - trimming of the lip, new fixings and careful alignment to the bumper centre line. For ducktails the engine lid is usually a separate panel, which means painting to match. Matte black and satin carbon finishes are more forgiving than gloss and hide stone chips far better.
Preview the Whole Aero Package on Your 996
Spoilers and splitters are the hardest parts to judge from product photos, because the effect depends entirely on the rest of the car. Rebody lets you add aero components to your exact 996, choose a body kit and colour, and generate renders from the front, side and rear so you can see the finished package before ordering.
